Scouts' Triple Birthday Year - Milestones Being Celebrated

Join Scouts' in celebrating five years of Squirrels, 40 years of Beavers and 110 years of Cubs since they rolled out across the UK. That’s over 250,000 young people and volunteers all celebrating, making it one of the biggest birthdays ever.

2026 is a big birthday year. In fact, it’s a triple birthday year!

As part of our birthday celebrations, we’ve created a digital “party bag” for volunteers. It includes games, activities, and party ideas to help them celebrate.

The Origins of Beaver Scouts

Beaver Scouts, often shortened to Beavers, was officially launched in 1986 following a two-year pilot programme, and in the true spirit of an inclusive organisation, even younger children got to experience Scouts for the first time.

Who are Beavers? 

Beaver Scouts, or Beavers, are the second section of the Scouting family, coming after Squirrels and before Cubs. Beavers is designed for young people aged 6 to 8 years old and offer the chance to try new activities, have fun, go on adventures, and make new friends while learning about the world around them.

When adding names to personalised products, you must never include information that could make a child or young person identifiable by using their full name.

Parents and carers must also give consent for their child's name to be added to a product before an order is placed.

Order requests containing full names will not be fulfilled.

• You could use just the first name of the young person - e.g. Lisa
• You can use the first initial of the surname if necessary- e.g. Lisa J
• You can opt just to have the young person's initials alone – e.g. LJ
• You can use middle initials - e.g. LMJ
