Welcoming a new Cub Scout to the Pack and the worldwide Scouts family is an exciting time, especially for the person making their Promise. This Cubs Promise badge is an ideal keepsake to remember that moment for years to come.
A transfer-printed blanket badge with the Cub Scouts Atheist or those of no faith Promise that can be sewn onto a camp blanket or poncho.
Choosing a Promise
Cubs should come to a few meetings and have some time to settle in before they make their Promise. After a few weeks, they should start to complete their Membership Award by finding out about their Cub Pack, and getting to know other members.
As part of their Membership Award, Cubs will also learn and understand the Cub Scout Promise and Law (as well as any code of conduct their Pack might have).
There are different versions of the Cub Scout Promise: everyone should choose the wording that’s best for them. Volunteers should make sure that they give everyone information about the options available, so new Cubs can think about what they will Promise (and talk about it with their parents and carers).
The Promise
The Promise is a simple way to help young people and adults celebrate their shared Scout values. Every Scout promises to stick by these values when they become a member.
There are four versions of the Promise appropriate to different age groups.
There is a Promise for;
- Squirrels
- Beavers
- Cubs
- Scouts, Explorers, Network and adults
Scouts is open to people of all faiths and of none. We have different variations of our Promise, so everyone can make a Promise that means something to them, no matter their background or belief.
