the winner of ScoutsCymru’s Dydd Gŵyl Dewi/St David’s Day blanket badge competition
Levi Byrne, of 2nd Pembroke Scout Group
presented with the very first badge featuring her design by her local Member of the Senedd Samuel Kurtz.
Meet Levi Byrne from the 2nd Pembroke Scout Group, the creative young Cub Scout behind this year's St. David's Day blanket badge.
Levi participated in ScoutsCymru’s Dydd Gŵyl Dewi/St David's Day blanket badge competition; her design was chosen from among 200 entries across Wales due to its simplicity and effectiveness.
Levi drew inspiration from the rich Welsh culture to design the badge: she incorporated vibrant yellow daffodils into her design as they are Wales's national symbol and are traditionally worn on St. David's Day. They also happen to be one of her favourite flowers.
Levi's design also includes a sweet personal touch as the three daffodils represent herself, her brother, and her sister. Initially, she left the background white and filled it in with a brilliant red just before entering the competition.
Samuel Kurtz, Senedd Member for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire and the Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs and the Welsh Language, presented Levi with the framed badge and certificate, as you can see in the photo above.
We want to celebrate Levi's remarkable achievement and the beauty of Welsh culture with her beautiful St. David's Day badge.
The St. David's Day badge is a blanket badge, meaning everyone can buy it. Get it ahead of St. David's Day - March 1st.
