2026 is A very special year for Scouting in the UK. We're marking, not one, not two, but three big birthdays - celebrating 5 years of Squirrels, 40 years of Beavers, and an incredible 110 years of Cubs! Over 250,000 young people and volunteers from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland will come together to mark these milestones.
There’s still plenty of time to get involved - from camps and sleepovers to parties and community events. It’s a brilliant chance to bring parents, carers and the wider community together and showcase what Scouting is all about.

Why is the Triple Birthday year important?
The Triple Birthday year is a special moment in Scouting’s history - it’s a celebration of key milestones and the shared experiences of thousands of young people and families. Whether your child is brand new to Scouting or has already journeyed through Squirrels, Beavers or Cubs, these anniversaries mark a moment in time they’ll be able to look back on and say, “I was part of that!”
It’s also a wonderful opportunity to reflect on your child’s own Scouting journey - the adventures they’ve had, the friendships they’ve made, and the contributions they’ve made to their section. Moments like these remind us just how much Scouting shapes young people, helping them grow in confidence and build skills for life.
How are Scouts celebrating the Triple Birthday Year?
Celebratory Activities
Each Scouting section and group will have its own way of celebrating - some might host parties, meet up with other sections in their group, or have a sleepover. Some Scouting groups might also be fundraising to buy new equipment, fund trips and expeditions, buy uniforms, or even improve their local Scout hut.
