The Discovery was tasked with rescuing Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance which was being crushed in the ice in the Antarctic in 1916. Later, in 1921, Shackleton took two Scouts James Marr and N E Mooney with him on a further Antarctic expedition. The Discovery was restored and remains to this day as a museum telling the incredible story of Britain's Antarctic Expeditions.
